A First Day Ready Outfit + My School Year Bible Verse

This is a prettttty typical outfit to see me in at school. Add a huge tote bag, some sort of drink and headphones and it could be any random semester day. When I started college and moved from having a dress code to wearing whatever I wanted, I noticed that my wardrobe was seriously lacking in the ‘cute top’ department. Since then, I’ve stocked up on quite a few and this one is such a perfect addition to my ‘collection.’

I love that it’s transitional, given the fact that if it’s still sweltering outside, it can be easily worn with shorts and you can stay cool because its cropped with a cold shoulder and a cute split flutter back, but when it starts to cool down, it will be super cute with black booties and a long duster cardigan (perfect for cold lecture halls) I really love finding pieces that can work in more than one season and it seems that Glam You Co. is full of them.

Also, did y’all notice I’m wearing a scrunchie?? I would say that I hopped on the bandwagon, but I don’t think I really ever got off.

Every year in high school a huge part of my back to school routine was really searching and praying over a bible verse that I could really use to center me throughout the year. When college started, I was so caught up and completely abandoned this routine and, for some totally stupid reason, I always thought there was just some other way to stay sane, be successful and do all the other things being God-centered helps me do, without God.

Soooooo, this year I have decided to pick back up on this tradition and I loveeee this year’s. It popped up in church a little while back and I have not been able to take my mind off of it since. I think it’s so perfect for a young person. It’s Psalm 51:11-17 “Create in me a pure heart, God and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Restore me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. The I will teach transgressors Your ways so that sinners will turn back to You. My sacrifice, God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart You, God, will not despise.” I think it pretty much speaks fully for itself, but I love that it says I can give God the worsts parts of myself to change into something beautiful so that I can use those new fulfilled parts to lead by example. A lot of times people, including myself, think that the parts that we ‘show off’ to God have to be perfect and without fault and that is the furthest from the truth. I hope I can remember this throughout this year, even when I hit the lowest of the lows.
