I 100% believe that one of the hidden gems of Texas is the Strand District in Galveston, Texas. I honestly love the entire island of Galveston; it’s full of culture and life and has the feeling of stepping into a different time. If you’re looking for colorful walls, adorable stoops, great seafood (and the best ice cream you will ever eat) this is the place for you to spend a day or even a weekend. I live about an hour away and this ‘daycation’ never ever gets old.

What to do:

The strand is chocked full of the cutest shops and boutiques. From finding an obnoxious tee to a massive sea shell to an adorable breezy dress, all options are available! I have noticed most beach towns are so incredibly expensive but Galveston isn’t! Picking up kitschy souvenirs isn’t so detrimental on a checkbook.

Also, bring your cameras! Every wall is either a bright color or a perfectly bricked wall which makes photos so fun. Almost every building is its original form and you can just feel the history. Historical markers are everywhere! It’s so fun to read everything. Galveston used to be the hub for Texas business, holding important ports and even buildings like the first bank in Texas. If you’re a huge nerd like me it’s so fun to see it all.

What to eat:

Pretty much every restaurant on the island is amazing, people know what good food is down here and a restaurant won’t last very long if it couldn’t be argued as the best. On this particular day I ate at Shrimps n Things and they have *seriously* the best hush puppies in the world. Get shrimp and fish and fries and everything.

For desert you must go to La King’s Confectionery. Here you will get my favorite ice cream cone in the world. Their rocky road is to die for and the coolest part is, they make every single thing they sell there in store. Walking in is seriously like stepping back in time, but for a good recommendation one scoop of ice cream there is more like three in ‘real life’

What I wore:

JACKET: *thrifted American Eagle | TOP: *thrifted Old Navy | SUNNIES: Agaci (similar) | SCARF: Academy (similar and so cute!) | JEANS: Seven7 Jeans | SHOES: Jack Rogers
